What (who) do you want to be…

We all have been asked

“What do you want to be when you grow up?”
And how many of us really ever know
We grasp at something
and spit out words
a policeman
a fireman
a doctor
a nurse
a lawyer
a teacher
…a super hero
We secretly all want to be super heros
of course
We want some super power
to protect us
to help others
and to be invincible and live forever
But we mature
and wake up to reality
and must choose again and again
who we want to be
Who we want to be at 15
will be different from 20
20 will be different from 30 and so on
The best we can do is accept and realize
we may change and we can change
One day we may be soldiers fighting for our nation
and in 10 years wake up to be
a mother
a father
an artist
a home builder
a leader
and hopefully a wonderful human being
